Nokia 1100

The Nokia 1100 (and a closely-related variant, the Nokia 1101) is a very simple GSM mobile phone produced by Nokia. 250 million 1100's have been sold since its launch in late 2003, making it the world's best selling phone handset as well as the best selling consumer electronics device in the world. The 1100 achieved its popularity despite being made during a time when more modern cellphones with more features (e.g. color screen, internal camera etc.) were available in the market. It was targeted towards developing countries and users who do not require advanced features beyond making calls and SMS text messages, alarm clock, reminders, etc. The 1100 is similar to the discontinued 5110/3210/3310 models that were among the most popular cell phones in the world during that time, before handsets developed several new features such as cameras, polyphonic ringtones and color screens. The Nokia 1100 was designed at Nokia Design Center in California, by the Bulgarian-American designer Miki Mehandjiysky. Nokia's one billionth phone sold was a Nokia 1100 purchased in Nigeria. As of early 2009, it has been in the news due to a firmware flaw  in a batch of phones that were manufactured in a plant in Bochum, Germany. The phone could supposedly be programmed to receive messages directed to a different phone number, thus receiving sensitive bank or other data. This flaw was brought to authorities' attention after some phones were sold for over US$32,000. There is only one source, a non-existing bureau using the name Ultrascan, that all these articles fall back to. A proof of concept or any other evidence for its claims was, unsurprisingly, never published.

Nokia 8110

Nokia 8110 was the first of Nokia's high-end, 8xxx series of phones released in 1996. Its distinctive styling was the first example of a 'slider' form factor. A sliding cover protected the keypad when being carried in the pocket and extended downwards in use, bringing the microphone nearer to the mouth. The action of opening the cover also answered an incoming call. The prominent curvature of the case, particularly when open, earned it the nickname "banana phone".

The phone was featured in the science fiction action film The Matrix (1999) with an addition of a spring-loaded slider, to open itself for heightened dramatic effect. This spring-loading would be later incorporated into Nokia's second phone with a slider, the 7110.

Initially priced at a little bit less than EUR 1000, it was designed for the business market and was one of the smallest and lightest phones on the market, but still had better battery life than its predecessor Nokia 2110.

The improved model 8110i was the first phone with the SSMS (Smart SMS) engine. The handsets could be updated OTA (Over The Air) with an intelligent menu structure, which allowed simple information input, input which was sent through a simple structured text message to an MT receiver. This station could interpret information and a structured text message back to the handset. Ring tone receiving by SMS was also part of the smart messaging protocol, so 8110i was also the first mobile phone to support it.

Nokia later stopped marketing Smart messaging and concentrated on the upcoming WAP standard, but has not dropped smart messaging support from new phones.

Nokia 7070

 

Nokia released two mid-range fashion candy bars the 7070 Prism. They demonstrated an eccentric prismatic motive and some interesting customization options by introducing changeable lines and different RGB LED lights. The clamshell 7070 Prism is a lot more simplified compared to the previous Prism models it does not even have a camera but it offers the same exotic and attractive design at a lower price. Design The compact clamshell form and its low weight (barely 78 grams) make it feel exceptionally comfortable in The phone does not have an additional display just a service light which blinks when it s ringing or there s a missed event. The light as well as the line circling most of the device can be either blue or pink. Unfortunately these features cannot be customized like with the 7500 and you will have to make your choice at the store. You won t find any keys on the sides of the phone there is only a 2.5mm headphones jack connectors for a data cable and the charger. The 1.8 inch display has a typical low budget resolution of 128x160 and supports 65k colors. The overall image is heavily panelized and colorless and as an additional drawback you will find it very difficult to use it in direct sunlight. All the keys (functional send and end keys 5 way D pad keyboard) are with prismatic shape which makes them pretty hard to press. Bearing in mind their limited motion and pale backlight in the end you really get a terrible keyboard. We also want to note 7070 Prism s poor build quality. The materials are nice and they don t give a feeling of something cheap (what it is) but when it s closed you can clearly feel the play between the two parts.

Nokia 5000

The Nokia 5000 is a thin 11.1 mm shaped mobile handset, launched for budget market, it will be coming in various bright and lively colors.
